Foreign Missions
We believe as Christians we should reach beyond our own needs, wants and desires to fulfill the needs of others.  At TCASH fulfilling the great commission locally and internationally is of utmost importance in our lives.  We support missionaries throughout the world and sincerely hope you will use the information in this web site to help us support the ongoing work of missions.  The map on the right will also introduce you to our memebers who have been on mission with God.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."  Matthew 28:19-20

EGYPT

Going to Egypt was one of the greatest blessings God ever gave me.  I was able to travel to a Muslim country and share my life with Egyptian Arabs that live in the Sinai.  The most fulfilling experience of my journey was climbing Mount Sinai and worshipping with many different Christians from all around he world.  I heard voices of many languages singing out their heart songs to Christ.  There on top of the mountain is where I met my God.  I had known Him for years but never truly met Him in His presence like I did during this experience.  He allowed me to see that with God all things are possible.  It was a touch of Heaven.

It's been said that at some point, every believer should take it upon themself to participate in some type of mission work.  I've heard this taught but didn't realize the implications nor the life changing effects it might have upon myself until I became obedient and heeded the call.  Traveling overseas for the first time in my life and coming into contact with the beautiful people of the Arab region had a tremendous impact on every member of our team.  I left burdened for a people who are without the truth and life changing power of the cross in their own lives but encouraged and strengthened in my own faith.  The experience has challenged me to consider new directions for my own life as well as find new ways to more effectively serve others and change the world around me.

JAPAN

Mary Lou in response to God's call prepared herself for medical work in Japan. She helped to begin the Japan Baptist Hospital and later become director of our Japan Baptist School of Nursing, serving in that fulfilling capacity for 26 years, training more than 300 Japanese Christian nurses.  This required a proficiency and skill in the Japanese language that had to be aquired in those early years.  In addition she was mother and home maker for our four children, and also helped Wayne with his work in the churches.

Wayne accepted God's call to Japan while serving there with the military in the early 1950s, challenged by the fact that less than 1% of the Japanese are Christians.  During 35 years of missionary service his work was evangelism, beginning churches and helping churches grow.  His days were filled with study, prayer, preaching, witnessing, Bible classes etc., trying to build up the churches.  There were many rewards but also many frustrations and disappointments.

Retirement for us has meant a change of pace.  We are still missionaries; only the location has changed. There are lots of people here that need to be witnessed to and ministered to. We  find plenty to do through our church and through volunteering (Mary Lou as  volunteer chaplain at Baptist Hospital  and Wayne as a Hospice volunteer and chaplain).  It is true that our involvement in overseas missions at this time is mostly encouraging others.  We enjoy our spaciousness comfortable home and Wayne enjoys golf.  (Everything was so crowded and expensive in Japan). But we constantly remind ourselves that God did not call us to a life of ease, but to service.

ALGERIA
For the past ten years Algeria has been in a civil war.  Operations by the Islamic activists and the army resulted in nearly 100,000 deaths during the decade-long conflict.  It has been within the past three years that the government has began changing the climate in Algeria by seeking help from other nations.  This war torn country desperetly needs our prayers.  Ask God to bless this nation and lift the opression of Islamic terrorism.

NICARAGUA

Serving alongside Terry and Arlene duPont, the missionaries in Nicaragua, changed my life and vision towards missions. I worked as an intern for four months with the duPonts and watched God's hand work in my life as well as the lives of the Nicaraguans. The focus of my internship was starting small groups among college students. When I began there were only five but within my short term God grew that number to twenty-five with many conversions to Christ. It was amazing to see God's love light up the lives of the Nicaraguans when they gave their hearts to Christ!

The people of Nicaragua were wonderful- so warm, caring and very receptive to the Good News of Christ’s love for them.  They live in a country of political divisions and poverty.  It is easy to wonder what impact one person could possibly have.  But Christ, He is everything- an untold source of riches for a desperate nation.

THAILAND
I have known Ladda, the founder of Im Jai House for over fifteen years.  She is an amazing woman of faith who listened for God’s voice and launched this ministry- an orphanage for children in Thailand whose parents have died of AIDS.  As I watched God turn her vision into reality over the last eight years, I knew I wanted to be personally involved so my family and I sponsor Em, a nine year old who loves and soccer but whose heart is filled with sadness after losing his parents to AIDS.  As we send our financial support each month, I know Ladda is providing more than merely room and board.  She is giving these children the love of Christ.

Em, Sponsord by the Singleton Family

We first learned of Ladda from Randy and Michelle Singleton at our church.  We were immediately touched when Ladda came to our church to speak about the Im Jai House and the children.  We learned from the Singletons of Ladda’s love and sincerity for the ministry and knew we wanted to be involved in some way.  We decided to sponsor a thirteen-year-old girl named Nan.  In doing so, we hope that we have been able to provide for her as greatly as the blessing she has bestowed upon us.  Mark 9:37
~ Betsy and Darin Berkley

The founder of Im Jai House is Miss Ladda Tipkunta. As a child, Ladda was given to a hostel for children whose parents were suffering from leprosy. She lived there for 6 years. For 9 years, sponsors from America supported her studies and development of her skills to earn a living. After Ladda became a Christian she felt the Lord wanted her to use her childhood experience to help children whose parents had died from AIDS by showing them how to receive the love of God and by providing an education that allows them to become self-supportive.
